Halloween 2009

We had a lot of fun last night. The girls enjoyed the themed costumes as did the folks at the nursing home. Then we stopped to see Eve and Doug. Back to our neighborhood.

Isaac walked with us and took some pics. Benjamin and Hilary opted to stay home. Then I did homework.

Treat Bags and Batty Boo Sucker Holders

I made a ton of fun stuff today.  Though some is for tomorrow...  Shhh.

So we have the Treat bags.  A simple but effective idea I relearned from Highlowaha.  These were for teachers of Isaac, Owen, Clara, Ada, Noa, and Lilah.  Benjamin is giving them to teachers and students since it's a total of 11 people.

Then we pulled out my favorite thing to make every year.  Simple, cute and the kids can help!  These are simply rubber stamps on a white 3 x 5 card.  We place the stamp in the corner and the kids cut off the excess.  Simple edging and accenting with regular markers for highlights.  I did the hole punching because I could only find a ridiculous punch.  Then insert the suckers!

Gray Around the Edges

So tonight I was at a board meeting. I was the youngest on there, including several women.  With the exception of the men, all in their 50s and 60s, I was on the only one with gray hair...  

Seuss Party

We had our Seuss birthday party! Green eggs and pancakes (Green eggs and Ham), pink Yink ink drink (I've Got a Wocket in my Pocket), and blue goo (Fox in Socks). We had prizes for Seuss trivia. Favorite Seuss books...

I've become one of them...

I go to Starbucks.  I usually get a Hot Chocolate. Talk about a non-needy customer. In my mind I always made fun of people with their fancy custom orders. I have a friend who orders her drink, triple blended, twice.  (For all you non-math majors, that's six times! But she felt is sounded better than asked for it blended six times.)

So a couple of days ago I was in Target and decided to treat myself to a hot chocolate. The lady there was nice and chatty.  I've talked to her a couple of times. She suggested I try a black and white hot chocolate, half regular chocolate, half white mocha.  She said it would be sweeter.  In trying to be nice I figured I'd try it.  I actually liked it better. 

So this morning I drove through a different Starbucks, and became on of those people who order something off the menu...  I guess the ability to do that is what you're paying for with a $3 cup of hot chocolate.  At least that's what I'm telling myself.
