So I'm sitting here talking to the kids and I say, "I'm always a bad mommy."
To which Owen replies, "No! You're always mean..." She said it with a smile in her voice.

Every year, we have a family Derby party. It's great. But this year it was a bit rough. We do various things and the kids win the names of horses. If the horses win, place or show the kid holding that name win a "prize."
Lilah won 1st place with Big Brown. Owen's horse came in 2nd with Eight Belles, and Clara with 3rd. So it soon became apparent that Eight Belles was injured. They killed her!"
Needless to say it was a very long evening explaining euthanization to a 5 yo and a nearly 15 yo. This on the end of the week where B found a dead turtle and a dead bird, which only proves the world is a bad place...

Owen and Clara have been growing their hair for locks of love. It was finally long enough that they wouldn't have extremely short hair.
