A Bit of Humor

I thought you guys might get a kick out of this one... So, Kevin loses his phone, conveniently just before the new iPhones come out, and has to borrow Hilary's.  So he goes to "hide" the cell phone in the lid of the VCR in the van.  And instead, the phone falls INTO the VCR.  Now the VCR lays on its side in the van to fit between the two front seats. So it's a long way down...  Nothing fits, not our hands, not the tongs we own and there the phone sits. And it's currently running out of batteries, so every few minutes: *beep* a reminder NOT to put a skinny cell phone near the opening of a VCR.

Kevin posted with the iPhone

My DH couldn't handle NOT updating my iPhone to download apps.  I guess the good news is that I can blog wherever I go now.  (Yes, K really wrote that!)

Isaac Goes to Camp

Well today was Isaac's big day - he's off to camp again for nearly a month.  We started the morning off with our usual Bob Evans meal.
100_0084 Then we waited at the parking lot for an hour. Hilary took the girls to the play ground which was a blessing, but Ada was frightened by the sound of lawnmowers and sat on the bench a lot - how sad.  After putting Isaac on the bus, Kevin came over to say good bye. I thought you'd get a kick of this one.

My Husband is Driving Me Bonkers

Okay so even though I'm able to intellectualize the fact that most of this is about the new baby, it's driving me bonkers. Here are some examples of his asinine behaviors:

  • He's going to the grocery. That's all he says. I ask if I can give him some things to add to the list. He says fine. So I print out the list. He's mad. He wasn't planning to go to Kroger. Okay, I never said he had to go to Kroger and I can't think of a thing on the list that he couldn't get at the grocery he wants to go to.  But all of a sudden he's yelling because he's unhealthy and going to die all because of my grocery list. 90% of the list is fresh fruit. The few "bad" things on there are to make a yogurt pie for a picnic we're going to today. So why couldn't he have a) gotten the items at the one grocery; or b) gone to two groceries like he expects me to do?
  • Yesterday he asked me to pick up some face masks so that he could clean up in a room we're having mold inspectors in. Now this is a room that he spends hours every night in playing video games but the mere act of cleaning will make him ill. So I buy the masks - no big deal. I come in and hand them to a kid to give to dad. They don't make it. He wants them now. Fine let's go find them. I say, "They are in a box this big (shows dimensions) and it says like 'surgical masks.'" Well that's it!  He didn't want surgical masks and how can he find that box in this house? Um, hello, the same way I will be finding it?  It was sitting on the kitchen counter and thank goodness it didn't really say surgical because that was NOT what he wanted at all and WHY would I buy THOSE types of masks.
  • After sleeping all night and working for about 2 hours, he needs a nap. I let him sleep because he's always bitching that I don't let him nap. Finally I wake him up at 2, knowing we need to leave at 3:30 for a party. He's mad when I ask what he wants to have for dinner. I remind him that he's known for weeks about the dinner and he of course doesn't remember that. So I also remind him that we have a party at 3 p.m. the NEXT day and he can't remember that either. He and I had a lengthy discussion of what he should bring being a vegan.  But now he's mad about that too.
  • When we get home form the first party and are cooking dinner, I have to have dinner on the table in about 45 minutes because someone over has to eat for medical reasons. He knows what I'm cooking, but apparently he's ticked because not only do I have THE pan he wants but I'm using the one big burner. (Remember I'd asked him multiple times to plan ahead for this and he slept all afternoon.)

It just drives me nuts. He can eat what he wants but I still need to cook for the kids. They really don't want to eat a raw vegan diet.  But my vegetarian "crap" is making them fat. (Despite the fact they all have normal BMIs.)

Oh and did I mention that next weekend he's going to Tae Kwon Do camp with Hilary, Isaac and Lilah, leaving me with a newly unmedicated Benjamin and all the little girls? Oh and he has no clue what the sleeping arrangements are for our 16 yo daughter.

Operation Romantic Weekend

I'm setting this blog to drip for after I'm supposed to leave the house.  My husband rarely reads my blog, but given my luck, he'd choose today, right now to do some light reading.  So I'm spilling the beans - we're going away for the weekend for a romantic weekend - no kids!  We've got some good friends coming in town to watch the kids, they're going to stay at the house with the kids and let the kids lead their normal lives.

Kevin and I will start out the evening with a couples massage. Then we'll head to dinner and go to a cool dessert spot.  He still thinks at this point that we're going home. At the dessert spot, he'll will go and think he's going to watch me eat since he's a vegan, but the surprise is that I called ahead and they will have vegan treats just for him! (Chocolate beet cake!)  Then I'll suggest we slip into something a bit more comfortable and hand him a room key to the B & B! I've got videos and books, I've already dropped off our clothes and stuff. We can go out and have fun or stay home and do nothing...until Sunday night.

Happy late anniversary, sweetie!

Green, Yellow, Green and Green UPDATED

Updated!  For some reason the presentation of the belts took place later.  So Kevin remembered the camera tonight and I at least have these photos:

What's green, yellow, green and green?

That would be Kevin, Lilah, Isaac and Hilary's new Tae Kwon Do belts!

They tested last night.  I wish this blog contained photos but alas that did not happen. I asked Kevin to bring the camera. I went to watch but we had to sit outside the studio with the younger kids and Benjamin in the van. I brought snacks and promised Taco Bell.  Kevin forgot the camera!  And he got there a couple of minutes late - no big deal.  Then I just had to wait for him to message me.

I waited. And waited.  Finally I went in, just in time to see Lilah doing her practice kick before breaking the board.  I was also able to see all of the testing for Kevin, Hilary and Isaac.  Way to go family!
