Quick Recap

It's been awhile, but here's the quick recap:

Christmas Eve:  Hilary had physical therapy that morning.  K had to work.  Hilary was also scheduled to play violin for Hospice that afternoon.  I dropped her off with her Christmas carols.  I picked up some last minute gifts with Ada, Owen, Clara and Lilah.  Lilah then stayed at grandma's for about an hour while I did last minute things at home (namely ice the homemade carrot cake and pick up ham subs for them).  I picked up grandma and Lilah.  Kevin took the boys and Ada and met us at mom's new nursing.  Hilary played her violin, Lilah played Hilary's violin. We ate yummy food and snacks and gave presents.  We gave mom a digital video camera.  She's loving it.  She looked great and had fun. It was cut off early because she had to go but we spent some time before then.

Christmas Day: We tried to make plans for Chinese food. The place didn't open until dinner.  So we met our friends for lunch at another place. We dropped the boys off to see a movie and spent the afternoon socializing at home with our friends.  I had been nursing a really nasty headache all day, so despite being at a buffet I ate white rice, cheese sticks and bananas.  Drugs, coffee, nothing worked.  That night we did chili bingo and had fun.  Still had nasty headache. Kevin wanted to go to the hospital.  Finally a bath and a third round of drugs wiped it out.

Benjamin's Wisdom Teeth:  He was so worried.  The day before he insisted that he wasn't supposed to eat for 24 HOURS before surgery.  I called and left a msg for Kim.  Thankfully I got him to eat as Kim's phone was messed up. He was on edge all weekend and the morning of very quiet. Kim, being a great friend, let me stay until he was asleep.  B did really well for his IV.  Partly it's Kim's mad IV skills and partly B's great veins (he didn't get that from me).  I sat about 6 feet away through a wall working online. I'm not as good at analyzing what each noise is anymore.  He woke up slowly, because he's a teen boy.  And when we did get him talking, he started drunk dialing.  First he wanted to call daddy to say he loved him and wanted to see him.  Not too weird.  We promised a drive-by dad's work for a quick hug and kiss.  Then he called his siblings and said he loved each of them (by name) - even HILARY.  He's been great about his meds and threw up a bunch once we got home.  Thankfully he's mostly pain free expect when he tries to open his mouth.  I know that's going to be an issue. I'm working on him about it, but we'll see.

Owen & Clara had check ups.  They are both 43.5 inches tall (70th percentile) and about 40 lbs.  Great health and doing a great job on everything.  Doc suggested I work on strangers a bit more.

I'm sure there is more I just can't remember it all!  :-)

P.S. I'll try to get some pics of B looking like a chipmunk!

Chanukah (Night #8)

Img_0066 This night was really a lot of fun.  We gave out the gifts that Isaac and Lilah had purchased for the whole family at Sunday school.  We then finished up the rest of the gelt by playing Chanukah trivia.  Everyone got to take part and earned chocolate.  The kids enjoyed a last game or two of dreidel.  I really enjoyed Chanukah this year.

Chanukah (Night #7)

Tonight was the night that we had Kevin's family over. We made some latkes, noodle kugel, salmon, etc. Bubbye enjoyed the kids. Cousin Rachel didn't enjoy the other kids, particularly when Owen and Clara tried to "take care" of her.

The best part of the night was giving Sherry her present!  I loved how excited she was!

Chanukah (Night #6)

Well Hilary's night of Chanukah coincided with our annual Chuankah Party!  We enjoyed our friends, good food and lots of laughs.  The kids played nicely together.  Hilary enjoyed a birthday gift of a talking watch - it speaks Japanese.  She likes that.

We got her a book on health (Our Bodies, Ourselves).  Jana gave that one a nod.  She also got a 2 GB flash drive.  She was mostly fun to be with and seemed to enjoy the company despite a hard week.

I love that the kitty cat was playing dreidel too.Img_0040

Chanukah (Night #5)

Tonight was Benjamin's night.  What I failed to realize when I planned the Chanukah experiment of 2007, was that Benjamin would be doing his youth group convention and miss tonights fun.  Given his propensity to need to come home early, we decided to give him a couple of gifts and hold the big ones until later - only if he managed to stay the whole time.  So it was a quiet night. When he came home minutes before midnight he was really anxious for the other presents.  He was really glad that he stayed...

Sweet Sixteen

Happy birthday, baby girl!  She hates that.  She spent the day with Isaac and Lilah at a chess tournament. Then came home and went to a party with a couple of friends at a laser tag place.  Home for Chanukah and spent some time with some family friends. She enjoyed her gifts - clothes.  ;-)

Chanukah (Night #4)

Tonight was Isaac's night.  He had been so patient.  Today he called from school asking if he should stay for chess, in case it would interefere with Chanukah. He did all the blessings over the candles without help and was very excited about his presents.  Earlier in the day he had said, "I know I'm getting only one present because what I wanted costs a lot of money ($30)."  I thought that was really sweet after watching everyone get multiple presents.  He got a chess game, a book of string puzzles, Bananagrams (game), and a DS game.  Then Kevin and I spent all night looking for his DS which we had put away before.  Poor kid was incredibly patient, it tooks us six hours to find it and then we had to say it's bed time...

Locks of Love

Img_0030 Img_0029 Owen and Clara have been growing their hair for locks of love.  It was finally long enough that they wouldn't have extremely short hair.  But there was a small snag and the two women who gave very nice hair cuts didn't manage to get their hair cut alike.  In the end they said they were okay with looking different, I was the one traumatized...

Chanukah (Night #3)

Tonight was Lilah's night of Chanukah. I actually started Lilah's celebration by teaching at her school. I brought lots of snacks to try out and we had fun reading stories and playing dreidel. I knew she would be pleased by her gifts - I mean seriously, how hard is it to buy presents for girls of this age?  So we'd been slowly gathering a collection of American Girl items, including a new doll.  I was a little hurt when she saw the big bag and kept saying, "I know there is an American Girl in there!"  I know she was excited, but gosh it was still like, "Can't you just be happy without runing your own surprise?"  Instead I simply smiled and said "You never know..."  She apparently played and played for hours, I had to leave to teach.  Here are some pics...

Chanukah (Night #2)

Clarachanukah So Owen and Clara went tonight. Earlier today Clara tried to tell me she preferred Kevin's chili to Skyline.  She later admitted that she was concerned that Skyline would interfer with Chanukah time. LOL

Here are pictures of their stuffed owls sleeping and of them with the babies and new clothing!
