Well, I've been toying with the idea of taking the GRE and going to grad school for awhile. I was talking to another mom at the pool this summer and she and I have nearly identical dreams. So we've been working hard to make it happen and we're preparing for the GRE. I've been really lax in my studies because of my family, but today I took the practice GRE.
I wound up thinking "I don't know this!" and guessing some or at least not putting my full effort into it. I didn't even have stuff to write with for the math. So I hurried up and found post it notes and a crayon. So I actually used crayons and post it notes!
Here's the kicker - if what I need to get in is x, I scored (x+200)!
Wonder if they'll let me take my lucky crayon to the actual GRE!
(Then DH, when I called to tell him the good news, said, "I'd have jumped off a building with that score..."
I can't believe that Lilah is seven today. She's changed so much. Her nick name as a baby was B. She had an early and often attitude. My grandma made fun of me for claiming that a 3 mo had moods. Then again she never rode in the car with Lilah, who screamed the entire time. Just when we thought we were in for a long 18 years, she mellowed out.
She's now the kindest, sweetest girl. She's an excellent student. She's so lovely and works hard. We couldn't be happier with her. For her birthday we went to the pumpkin patch to pick a family pumpkin and eat at the farm.
While we did not eat birthday cake, nothing says I love you like happy birthday written in apple butter! We did sing very loudly to her, much to Hilary's embarassment. And she had pumpkin pie for dessert...
It's so hard coming back! *whine*
Okay, so it totally worked out and Kevin was really, really surprised. He looked a bit weird about the massage but played along and wound up really enjoying it. Then we decided to eat at a sushi place next door, Hilary recommended it. Some friends joined us for dinner, then more friends joined us for dessert. The next day we wound up just walking around a couple of malls, going to some stores we rarely go to because we have kids in tow, and seeing a movie. (Dan In Real Life, funny) Dinner was nice and I was looking forward to a specific dinner - the only thing I eat on the menu, but they sold out of it minutes before I ordered. *sigh* But rather than focus on the negative, I ordered some sides instead. So it was nice.
Sunday was much of the same, nothing wild or spectacular, just some quiet time reconnecting as we did some retail therapy.
I finished what little Chanukah shopping I had to do and used all of my gift cards I'd been storing up. So the weekend was really inexpensive! That made Kevin happy. We came home with two really cool gifts! DDR Hottest Dance Party and Guitar Hero III. Let's say there is something for everyone. I've even done 4 wii workouts today. LOL (Time to cancel that gym membership?)
I'm setting this blog to drip for after I'm supposed to leave the house. My husband rarely reads my blog, but given my luck, he'd choose today, right now to do some light reading. So I'm spilling the beans - we're going away for the weekend for a romantic weekend - no kids! We've got some good friends coming in town to watch the kids, they're going to stay at the house with the kids and let the kids lead their normal lives.
Kevin and I will start out the evening with a couples massage. Then we'll head to dinner and go to a cool dessert spot. He still thinks at this point that we're going home. At the dessert spot, he'll will go and think he's going to watch me eat since he's a vegan, but the surprise is that I called ahead and they will have vegan treats just for him! (Chocolate beet cake!) Then I'll suggest we slip into something a bit more comfortable and hand him a room key to the B & B! I've got videos and books, I've already dropped off our clothes and stuff. We can go out and have fun or stay home and do nothing...until Sunday night.
Happy late anniversary, sweetie!
ghosting n. leaving candy at someone’s door, knocking, and then running away before they answer.
This is from the Double Tongued Dictionary. I love it. I think I'll try it...
This is the game I play every night before I go to bed and every morning when I get up. My kids go into their rooms and their respecive beds at bed time. The order and location changes all through out the night. It's not infrequently that I hear, when asking someone to wake a sibling, "I can't find them!" Right now Isaac and Lilah are the worst at this game, or the best depending on who is ranking them. Let's hear it for Ada and Benjamin who don't play the game and just want to sleep!
Way to go! You know not to trust the MS Grammar Check and you know "no" from "know." Now, go forth and spread the good word (or at least, the proper use of apostrophes).
